The Pindrop Foundation is a New Zealand charity supporting severely hearing impaired adults into a hearing world through cochlear implant technology and services and we had the opportunity to develop and launch New Zealand’s first health conference for the cochlear implant community.

We were briefed to create a conference that would stimulate conversation amongst health influencers here and overseas, attracting international and national experts, health professionals, government officials, funders and consumers. In addition, we were to develop a PR campaign that would amplify the cochlear implant story.

Coinciding with hearing week, we launched the inaugural cochlear implant forum in 2015 which seen 150 attendees from across the hearing sector in New Zealand and overseas come together for a full day of engaging discussions, information sharing, experience based perspectives and networking.

The 2017 Forum built on the success of the 2015 event, attracting the world leading expert on hearing loss and healthy ageing to present the keynote address. Attendance numbers were up by 30% on the inaugural event.

For both events, the PR programme secured features on Seven sharp, One News, national and regional press, women’s magazines, radio and online.
